TALK

Let yourself experience emotion,

Love, pain, hurt, devotion.

Each one special in its own right,

They make you want to play,

Make you want to fight.

We should all talk about the way we feel,

Over a drink, over a meal.

Talk to a friend from long ago,

Talk to family,

Someone you don’t know,

Talk to anyone you meet, at the shops or in the street,

Tell them everything, don’t be discreet.

Openly mention your views of today,

The things on your mind,

Don’t be scared to say.

And when a stranger wants to talk to you,

Don’t hide away as people do,

Give a non-judgemental listening ear,

Away from hatred

Away from fear.

Step towards them, give comfort true,

One day you see, this might be you,

Searching for someone to find the time,

If you ever need it,

You can have mine.

TIME

Why is there no time to do as I please?

I’m a prisoner to the clock it has me on my knees,

I’m always running late, no matter what I try,

Not a truer word said, doesn’t time fly.

UNSOCIAL
MEDIA

You sit there all alone,

Playing on your phone,

The room is full, but you can’t see,

Cos no one’s in your zone.

The world is in your lap,

Your little boy wants to play,

You give a screen to tap.

Google, yahoo, mumsnet,

You read and get upset,

Your partner comes to comfort you,

And gets the coldest shoulder yet.

Relationships need contact,

Technology means it lacked,

Your throwing away experience,

Google it,.... cos it’s a fact.

IN DRINK

A person in drink isn’t as bad as you think,

Except the smell, the vomit and dirt,

The risk of a violent outburst,

Or of course they could be a flirt.

A person in drink doesn’t smell that bad,

It’s just they may need a wash,

New trousers, shirt and shoes,

And maybe a bit of good nosh.

A person in drink is easily judged,

Look at them cluttering the path,

It isn’t until you’ve met them you see

They aren’t there to make people laugh.

A person in drink might need your help,

There’s nothing more to say,

Don’t judge when you see them lying there,

It could be you one day.

GOOD OLD EDNA

I was once sent to a patient in her 90s by her own GP,

A spritely lady answered the door and was surprised to see me,

I explained I came for Edna, that’s who I’ve come to see,

Edna the lady said, that’s me, and I am 93.

She said come in my love and tell me what you’re doing,

Sit down, take a weight off, a cup of tea is brewing,

She asked if I’d like a snack, explaining she keeps chewing

That’s what keeps her looking young, she’s chewing, then she’s pooing.

I told her why I was there and of the doctors concern,

Don’t worry, but my news you might be shocked to learn,

The GP thinks you’ve had a stroke, don’t let your stomach churn

You need to sit and relax or you’ll end up in an urn.

A stroke she said laughing hard, a broad smile across her face.

A stroke she kept giggling, I’ll tell Audrey, she’ll think it ace,

I explained it could be serious and put her in her place,

I have not had a Stoke you see, my doctors a disgrace.

I called the GP yesterday, he came out, sweet as cotton

I said my arm won’t go higher than there, I could tell he had a lot on

I didn’t mention how it started, with my age I'd forgotten.

I felt it first at the foot of the stairs when I fell from top to bottom.
